Thanks to all those that have taken the time to make blocks for this project. Blocks should be made out of red, white, and blue fabrics. Americana versions are also welcome. Blocks should be 12 1/2" (12 inches finished).

- Wisconsin Memorial Quilt Project
- Hi, my name is Belle Wichlacz. I am a Gold Star mother. My son LCPL Travis Wichlacz was killed by an IED in Iraq in February of 2005. I have been a quilter for many years and was asked by a wonderful group - Being There Reaching Out (BTRO) that brings together the families of the fallen for support if I would coordinate a quilt project for the Wisconsin families. I started this project in 2006 after receiving a quilt myself from Betty Nielsen's Iowa based Freedom Quilts, Inc. All quilts are made from donations and volunteer work from my quilt friends. It became an outlet for me as I worked through my grief and reached out to others. Each year we make quilts to be given to the families primarily at the annual gathering held each April. Each year I hope we are nearing completion and will no longer have to make gold star quilts. I have pledged to continue the project as long as we have supplies and there is a need.
